BROMELIAD GUIDE · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

By Everydaything Team · Last updated October 2026

Bromeliad plant price in India runs from about ₹180 to ₹750 for a small single plant, ₹699 to ₹1,599 for mature or potted ones, and ₹3,000 or more for collector cultivars. Genus, size, bare-root versus potted format and the seller’s selling unit explain most of the gap. Every price below was checked in October 2026 and names its seller.

Fish Bazaar is operated by the same team as this site, so we show its prices alongside other Indian sellers and flag where others cost less. Prices change often; verify before ordering.

How much does a bromeliad cost in India?

Most small bromeliads sold online in India cost between ₹180 and ₹750 per plant. The lowest price we found was ₹180 for a mini Neoregelia at Fish Bazaar (sold in sets of 10), and the highest single-plant price on a regular-range listing was ₹3,000 for a Billbergia cultivar at the same store. Mature, potted or colour-selected plants from mainstream retailers sit between ₹699 and ₹1,599.

That is a wide spread because “bromeliad” covers a huge family. The Bromeliaceae holds roughly 80 genera and 3,700 species according to Wikipedia’s family overview, but Indian sellers stock a small, repeating set of them. If the family is new to you, start with what a bromeliad is, with quick facts.

The table lists example listings, with the seller and date, so you can see where each genus tends to sit. It is not a complete price list, and sizes are not identical across rows.

One row deserves a second look. The same cultivar, Neoregelia ‘Flandria’, was ₹249 at one store and ₹699 at another, a gap of about 2.8 times. The larger price came with a stated height of 15 to 20 cm and a mature, established plant, so size is the likely driver, but the cheaper listing did not state a plant size. Always compare dimensions, not just names.

How much more does a potted bromeliad cost than a bare-root one?

Budsnblush gives the cleanest answer because it sells one plant three ways. Its Mini Leopard Neoregelia ampullacea (3 to 5 inches) was ₹225 bare-root, ₹325 in a grow pot and ₹499 in a ceramic pot. That is about 44 per cent more for a plain pot and about 122 per cent more for a decorative one, for the same plant.

Bare-root is the better value if you are building a terrarium or mounting plants on wood, because you were going to re-pot them anyway (see how to mount a bromeliad on wood, and read how bromeliad roots work and when to repot before you unpack a bare-root plant). Potted costs more but suits gifts and first-time growers. One caution from the same seller’s refund page: bare-root plants are excluded from its refund guarantee, so cheaper can carry less cover.

What makes one bromeliad cost more than another?

Five things move the price, and only the first two are about the plant itself.

  • Time to grow: a bromeliad flowers once and then produces pups. Colorado State University’s PlantTalk says pups may take about a year to mature, though some species need longer, while Bromeliads.info puts the pup-to-maturity journey at roughly two to three years. A big, colourful rosette represents a lot of grower time.
  • Genus and cultivar: Neoregelia and Cryptanthus are widely propagated and sit at the low end. Named cultivars, giant Alcantarea and collector Billbergia sit higher.
  • Size and maturity: an established 15 to 20 cm plant is worth more than a young pup.
  • Format: pot, ceramic pot or bare-root, as shown above.
  • Seller model: selling unit (single or set of 10), shipping thresholds and listed “discounts” all affect what you pay.

How does Fish Bazaar’s set-of-10 pricing work?

Fish Bazaar lists bromeliads as a “Set of 10 Plants” variant, priced at ten times the per-plant price. At ₹180 per plant for Neoregelia ‘Volcano’, a set is ₹1,800; at ₹270 for ‘El Nido’ it is ₹2,700; at ₹375 for ‘Firefly’ it is ₹3,750. Across the range, set prices run from about ₹1,800 to ₹60,000. Shipping is a flat ₹100 and free above ₹499, so a set ships free, and the store issues a GST invoice.

That makes the model good value for large projects such as big terrariums, vivariums, paludariums, offices and landscaping, and for wholesale buyers, who can enquire on WhatsApp at +91 9152330102. A short illustration: if you need four plants for a small terrarium and a seller of singles charges ₹375 each, you spend ₹1,500. Splitting a ₹1,800 set of ten with two other hobbyists leaves each of you with about three or four plants for roughly ₹600 to ₹720. The honest limit is that you must find people to share with, and that live plants at Fish Bazaar are non-returnable, so any damage must be reported on receipt. If you want exactly one plant, a seller of singles is simpler, and our comparison of eight Indian bromeliad sellers shows which ones sell singles. How can you avoid overpaying for bromeliads?

  • Ignore the strike-through price. Budsnblush listed its Mini Leopard at ₹225 against a ₹1,200 “regular” price, which is an 81 per cent discount, and Frek showed ₹699 against ₹1,199. Compare final prices across stores instead.
  • Match size to size. Look for cm or inch measurements, not just the name.
  • Add shipping. Free-shipping bars differ: ₹499 at Frek and Ugaoo, ₹550 at Budsnblush, ₹999 at Hug A Plant.
  • Read the replacement clause before you pay for a premium plant. A cheap plant with no cover can cost more than a pricier one with cover.
  • Buy bare-root for builds, potted for gifts.
  • Pick the right genus for your space using our types of bromeliads guide and best bromeliads for terrariums, so you do not pay for a giant that outgrows its enclosure.

Frequently asked questions

What is the average price of a bromeliad in India?

Across the listings we checked in October 2026, small single plants cost roughly ₹225 to ₹750, with mature or potted plants at ₹699 to ₹1,599.

What is the cheapest bromeliad you can buy online in India?

We found ₹180 per plant for a mini Neoregelia at Fish Bazaar (sold as a set of 10) and ₹225 for a bare-root Mini Leopard at Budsnblush. The lowest-priced single full-size listing was ₹249 at Plantshub.

Why are some bromeliads so expensive?

Rarity, cultivar name, size, maturity and the time it takes to grow a plant to display size all raise the price. Collector Billbergia can reach ₹3,000 per plant.

Is a bare-root bromeliad cheaper than a potted one?

Yes. In one seller’s example, the same plant cost ₹225 bare-root, ₹325 in a grow pot and ₹499 in a ceramic pot.

How much is a set of 10 bromeliads at Fish Bazaar?

A set costs ten times the per-plant price, for example ₹1,800 for Neoregelia ‘Volcano’ at ₹180 per plant. Set prices across the range run from roughly ₹1,800 to ₹60,000.

Do discounts on bromeliad listings mean real savings?

Not necessarily. Several stores show large strike-through prices, so compare the final price and plant size across stores.

Do bromeliad prices include shipping?

Usually not. Free-shipping thresholds we saw were ₹499 to ₹999. Fish Bazaar charges ₹100 flat and ships free above ₹499.

Are mature bromeliads worth the extra money?

If you want an instant display, yes. If you are building a terrarium or can wait a season, smaller plants cost less and grow in.

Do prices change with the season?

We did not find a reliable source on seasonal bromeliad pricing in India, so we do not claim one. Stock and sales change often, so check the listing on the day.
